By the way, there’s a similar model called the RØDE Lavalier GO. It has the same specs but comes with a more traditional TRS connector.

I know your review is a bit old now, but it is very useful.

One thing that seems to confuse people is whether or not it will plug straight in to a “computer” , in particular a Mac.

What I read was confusing me as some people were saying it definitely would not. I think they must be referring to old models.
Both my MacBook Air (2020 M1) and my iMac 2024 have trrs sockets and it works fine.

The AGC problem can be dealt with if you use the right app. I recently recorded our parish church organ using RecForge ii on a very cheap Android phone. Result on internal mic remarkably good considering…
The app enables you to turn off the AGC and then offers a preview mode for level adjustment (“sound check”).
The preinstalled sound recorder apps are just for voice messaging and note taking. Definitely not serious.

Well that happens but the problem has to do more with the AGC in the phones rather than having a noisy mic. When you are speaking, there is no noise, but during silent passages the phone cranks the gain to the maximum because it “doesn’t hear anything”. Therefore the background suddenly becomes much more apparent, and it is quite annoying indeed. The solution is actually quite brutal: don’t use a cellphone.

I just purchased this, and am disappointed. Using it with my iPhone 12, the built-in phone mic sounds better. The Lav mic has what sounds like a subtle white noise in the background, but the voice quality is good. Bummed.

Well you will need a female trrs to male trs microphone adapter in order to make it work with computer + cameras.
Although, some pc cases like NZXT H710 may route the front audio panel header to a single trrs, in which case it will also work without the adapter.

Can you plug it into a computer to record…and if yes does it require an adaptor….This of course will enable one to edit recording.. I know it does in fact plug into a camera…It infuriates me that NONE OF THESE REVIEWS tell the entire story..?
